A good real estate agent should guide you through every stage of the homebuying or selling process. They should be a valuable resource in terms of their knowledge and expertise of the industry. However, home buyers and sellers need to be mindful that some agents are better than others. Here are a few tips on how to work with your real estate to ensure your experiences are positive ones.

Be clear about your needs

Every buyer has things that they want and things that they must have in their next home. For many, having multiple bathrooms is a need and nonnegotiable. This should be one of the first questions an agent asks a buyer. If they do not immediately take note of your needs versus your wants, this should raise some red flags. Keep in mind that you are the one making the decisions and you should not have to sacrifice on needs unless its is absolutely necessary,

Explain how you best operate

Everyone works differently and your agent should know this. If you have a hectic work schedule and cannot step away from your desk during normal business hours you need to make this clear to your agent. From the start, you need to be clear on the things that you know work best for you. For instance, it is important to state your preferred method(s) of communication. For you this may be through phone calls or text messages, while for others this may be through email. For some buyers, they appreciate weekly in-person meetings. By letting your agent know how you operate you can avoid potential issues that may arise from poor communication.

Ask as many questions as possible

You should be asking your real estate agents questions throughout all stages of buying or selling a home. They are there to assist you in whatever way they can, so do not be afraid to ask an infinite amount of questions. This is especially true if you are a first-time buyer or seller and this is brand new to you.
